an interchange; an exchange of languages
The Intercambio is a completely unique and innovative program that facilitates immediate, comfortable interactions between speakers of different languages. Designed as a fun combination of traditional Intercambio pairs and the "speed dating" craze, this unique program starts with the ultimate goal -- creating culturally integrated workforces.
During the Intercambio, a Lanza facilitator provides basic communication tools such as how to correct your Intercambio partner and what to say when you don't understand. The facilitator also provides topics of conversation and teaches the pair to help each other comfortably communicate in a new language. This type of learning, in a natural setting, sets the stage for learning that will carry through and permeate your organization's culture.
| Question: |
What does an intercambio look like? |
| Answer: |
More like a happy hour than a traditional class. No-one chews on their pencil or nods off. Everyone is animated and involved in their own conversations. Everyone participates 100% of the time. |

| Question: |
So, do students sit at desks and take notes? |
| Answer: |
No! "Students" sit in concentric circles, facing their partner, a native-speaker of a different language. After five minutes of facilitated, animated discussion, the outer circle rotates one chair and everyone greets a new partner. |
